The better. Christmas Gift Guide - supporting other small businesses

The better. Christmas Gift Guide

A couple of weeks ago we asked you lovely lot to nominate your favourite small / ethical businesses so that we could put together a #shopsmall gift guide for Christmas and we received some lovely suggestions. We have also included businesses that we have shopped with ourselves, shared stalls with and  brands that we had the pleasure of working with and learning from in the past.

One of the best presents in our eyes is the gift of time and experiences together  but if gifting something, we think it's best to put down those generic mass produced gift sets nobody wants and to say hello to ethical Christmas gifts that are kinder to people and the planet.

Each business we have featured has a clickable link to their website, making it easy for you to shop small and support these lovely businesses this Christmas and beyond.

Here are the brands / online marketplaces we love :

Always Forever Green - Always Forever Green stocks 100's of eco friendly products by sustainable & eco friendly brands in the UK. We make social contributions from every purchase

The Wasteless Market - Wasteless Market is a climate positive company with a purpose driven message. They're on a mission to reduce waste, fight climate change and bring you ethical, natural and sustainable products through their multi-vendor marketplace.

Animaltopia -  this little business is, like us, also based in Dorset and offers original, cruelty-free and sustainably made animal inspired t-shirts, tops, sweaters and hoodies for animal and nature lovers. With award winning traceability from seed to shop.

Sancho's - Sancho's was born from the wish to put the best sustainable, slow, and artisan brands under one roof to make it super easy for people to make a difference as they shop.

Ten Foot Naked - Ten Foot Naked exists to make package free shopping accessible, affordable and easy peasy. They're a zero waste shop + a shop on wheels, based in Dorset but also have a range of lovely items to shop online.

Just Olive Jewellery - contemporary jewellery, handcrafted from responsibly sourced materials.

Bad Hand Coffee - an independent coffee roaster based in a converted warehouse just off the mean streets of central Bournemouth. When it comes to their beans (and their business practices), they’re all about the ethics, environment and are trying to be all-round decent human beings.

Little Moon Baby - Little Moon Baby specialises in eco-friendly baby and child products with a range of reusable nappies, wetbags, and accessories as well as wooden toys and other lovely items.

Elephant Box - offer reusable products that are useful, beautiful & durable - giving you a reason to buy better and to buy less. They promise everything they make at Elephant Box will last you a lifetime, and you can feel good, safe in the knowledge that you’ve chosen to reduce your waste.

One Gin - One Gin is the first gin created to give back to a global humanitarian cause, turning the UK’s love of gin into a force for good. They donate at least 10% of their profits to fund life-changing, sustainable water programmes in the world’s poorest communities.

Pia Elliot Art - lovely prints and Christmas Cards from Dorset.

Turtledove London - gender neutral clothes for kids to pass down to smaller friends and siblings. Made from organic cotton fabrics with Azo free dyestuffs, their collection is a mindful antidote to fast fashion and fast living.

ånd fragrance - unstinking the world by hand-sourcing and hand-formulating pure essential oils and essences and standing in solidarity with indigenous communities and those protecting precious ecosystems.

Myrtle Maude - founded in Yorkshire; Myrtle & Maude create vegan, organic and natural products for the pregnancy journey & women’s wellness.

Po-Zu - Po-Zu is an award-winning ethical sustainable footwear brand, combining outstanding ethics with unrivalled comfort to create shoes that you will truly fall in love with.

beti + beno - is a marriage of founder Parul Patels' love for India, handmade textiles and empowering marginalised communities. beti + beno offer beautiful modern contemporary scarves.

Arclore - the current collection is made from Turkish cotton, grown using organic farming methods. The threads are woven into towels and throws using traditional weaving methods by weavers in villages throughout the country of Turkey, who are paid a fair living wage. The weavers would have gone out of business if it were not for a market demand that saved their traditional craft.

Happy (small) shopping & gifting!
